Objective
Requirement to increase capacity for producing more diary products. Furthermore, to be able to clean tanks, equipment and pipework automatically & independently.
PVSL was asked to offer a solution for an automatic milk intake & distribution system with an integrated “Raw” & “finished” CIP system. Also, within our scope was to design, manufacture & install a new chilled glycol & towns water pump and distribution system.
Challenge
All the new equipment to fit into the existing limited space available at the front of the factory, 4 milk silos were in place of which 2 silos were in use from the old
Pump system, Requirement for the milk intake system to receive milk from 2 x milk tankers to deliver milk to any 2 milk silos simultaneously while the factory could clean or use milk from any of the other 2 remaining milk silos.
Solution
PVSL designed and manufactured the milk intake & delivery system in house at our factory in the west midlands. Because we had a turn key solution the intake & delivery & CIP system were all designed to fit in the available space on site.
All the pipework and electrical connections between each system were considered and incorporated into the design from the first stages of the project.
We designed the overall system to give the site as much flexibility as possible even with the challenges of the limited space available.
The system can Select any 2 milk silos from the HMI to deliver milk into the factory to any piece of equipment independently & simultaneously while cleaning any unused pipe route and tank.
Our CIP system design for this site incorporates 4 different pumping channels each sharing a bulk CIP & water tank while injecting sterilant directly into each line when required.
This system enables the site to clean any 4 different pieces of equipment, tanks or pipework routes simultaneously.
The CIP system is fully automatic with SCADA to trend and ensure all the current BRC requirements are met regarding flows/ pressures and temperature control.
We installed all this while keeping production going from the existing system.
